Ask the Expert

Brainstreams 'Ask the Expert" section features a new expert each month, focusing on a particular topic. Coming up in June:

CherylDr. Cheryl Wellington is a Professor in the Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at the University of British Columbia. Dr. Wellington obtained her PhD in Microbiology at UBC in 1991 and did postdoctoral training at Harvard Medical School, U of C, and UBC. She joined the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the UBC in 2000 and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2006. Dr. Wellington’s group has made key contributions to the understanding of the role of apolipoprotein E (apoE) in Alzheimer’s Disease and Traumatic Brain Injury.

Run 2 Remember

DavidDavid McGuire, a brain injury survivor, began his mission of running a marathon a day across the country on April 1st in St. John’s, Newfoundland, and is now entering New Brunswick! 

David is visiting schools along the route and will continue to share his story with students, including the important message of prevention.  His goal is to inspire youth, as they are the highest risk for traumatic brain injury.  Brainstreams.ca is pleased to be supporting David's efforts.
