Dr. Julia Schmidt, PhD, BSC (OT) is the Principal Investigator of a new research study on the experiences of self-identity, self-awareness, and occupational engagement in individuals with traumatic brain injury.
Are you interested in sharing your experiences of life after traumatic brain injury? If so, your involvement includes completing five questionnaires and an intereview. Click here to view a larger image.
The questionnaires will take approximately 45 minutes and will ask you about:
- demographic data (example: age)
- issues related to your injury
- how you perceive yourself
- your abilities
- your daily activities
The interview will take approximately 40 to 60 minutes and will ask you about:
- your injury
- how you perceive yourself
- your abilities
- your daily activities
The questionnaires will be completed through an online platform (Qualtrics), with the help of a researcher. On a separate day, interviews will be conducted over a video chat (Zoom) and will be audio-recorded with your permission. When completing the interview and survey, rest breaks may be taken at any time. In addition, you do not have to answer any questions you feel uncomfortable answering.
A $30 cash honorarium is available as compensation for your time.
You are eligible to participate in this study if you are 18 years to 65 years old, experienced a moderate to severe traumatic brain injury, experienced the injury at least a year ago, and able to communicate in English.
The results of this study will be presented to students, faculty and researchers associated with the UBC Rehabilitation Sciences program. We will also try to publish the results. Click here to view a larger image.
If you would like to receive a copy of the research results, please provide contact information on the consent form. The data may also be used as secondary data for future studies in this area.
