Profile
Recreational Respite has built an entire team of Recreation Therapists on the premise that FUN changes behaviour! The work we do in both areas of 1:1 support (in the home or community setting) and group based recreation programs promote engaging activity in order to support individuals to achieve individual goals and reach desired outcomes that include: social skills, re-integration into family, school, work or community, participation, life skills, independence and identifying sense of role and purpose.
Programming is customized based upon the individual needs, interests, abilities and strengths of the individual. Therapeutic Recreation focuses on inclusion, emphasizes participation, is person centered and goal driven.
Those who have had a traumatic brain injury can sometimes experience changes in their lives that can contribute to a loss or lack of engagement, participation, social connections and independence in everyday life. This shift often causes further isolation and can challenge the opportunity to identify interests or re-establish oneself as an active member of the family or community.
Our team of Recreation therapists have the skill set to identify what those barriers have become and create new paths through recreation, leisure and engagement in the home and community. We encourage community participation to engage in an active lifestyle while restoring a sense of self and worth.
